  • Greece!

I'm leaving for a 17 day (7 of which will be a cruise) trip to Greece in THREE days! Am I packed? Of course not! I have a lot to do still, 3 days left of work to fix a lot of outstanding issues. Oh, and I got a promotion too! I think the frequency of my updates is sad. Every time I update maybe I'll have a promotion. That'd be the dream! But I'm excited for my next step, and hopefully a decrease in my stress level. I had to take up Yoga after my last promotion after all.

I can't wait for my adventure to Greece, but wish my boyfriend and puppy could both fit in my carry-on bag! Yes- that's right, we're each traveling for 17 days with one carry-on each! We are brave. It should be a promising girls trip, like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants except with less romance and more political unrest!

I'm most looking forward to Santorini, I'm ready to be blown away by the beauty! This is sort of a graduation present to myself but 2 years belated; and very much earned!

Too busy to breathe with my new promotion! I had 54 inbound and 61 outbound calls yesterday which is simply awful!

Here's a recap on my summer of firsts:

Went to my first bachelor party
Went clubbing for the first time, lol
Attended the first wedding out of my friends!!
-caught my first bouquet, kris was not thrilled!
Walked through the first townhouse on my hunt to buy a place of my own

How did we get here? So grown up, i have dreams of college

On a more delirious sidenote (first fever in a long time today)

Why is it called Fifth Third Bank? Wouldn't that just make it the eighth bank? That's like me calling myself the Second Twenty-First Michelle.

Here's an overdue picture from my mom's wedding  in June :)

  • Oddly enough three people have died since my last post, not including Osama. Cindy is still recovering and visiting her is always full of surprises, such as my uncle barking back at the person in the hallway staring at us! I can't figure out if living at home is depressing or if it's just that I'm missing college. I'm not depressed, but surrounded by death inching closer to me- but it has been a degree away from me and that's all my family discusses lately.

Everyone is either in the hospital or dealing with cancer. I want to go back to college where people are healthy and not sick, yet I felt old on my visit there last weekend.

On a happier note everyone is also getting married or having a baby! I get a play by play from my pregnant coworker. One month to fit in the bridesmaids dress for my moms wedding on the beach! 8 months of sitting in a cubicle hasn't done too much damage yet but it's a bit tight!

  • And you can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks, yes you can stare into the abyss but its staring right back.

I might be doing the below more often after a visit to the hospital last night. I thought I was seeing what I imagined someone dying looked like, but they said my Great Aunt looks much worse than she actually is. Praying. It didn't help that we walked in when her oxygen mask had fallen off of her (with no nurse around), and she has sleep apnea so she was struggling pretty bad to breathe. She was also unconscious from the pain killers.. has a broken hip and what they think is pneumonia. It was a frightening sight. She lives at an assisted living center because she has down syndrome but I think she's being moved to a nursing home soon. She is much older than they predicted she would live. I've been thinking about volunteering at a senior living center for awhile now and after last night, I am definitely going to act on that. I need more meaning in my life.

  • Snowpacalypse 2011

I'm thankful that the company I work for took this blizzard seriously, because I was WAY too unprepared for it. I probably shouldn't have mocked everyone for freaking out. They let us go early to get hom safe before the storm, and gave us a PAID snow day today! Even if it was more or less a "shovel-day" from work.

Lake Shore Drive is completely terrifying, along with plenty of other people being stranded for 20 hours stuck behind trucks or buses closer to where I live. I'm so happy I didn't have to be out there and I'm glad a lot of people took it seriously. It's so sad to read about the deaths that were caused by the storm, but there is also a sense of community reading about people who lived nearby LSD and walked food and drinks out to the people who were stranded.

There was a six foot tall drift right up to our front door! It took us 8 hours to shovel the driveway.. see the first picture during the scary storm, and the second; the after-math.

Happy shovel day to you! Hope everyone is safe and warm.
