I'm thankful that the company I work for took this blizzard seriously, because I was WAY too unprepared for it. I probably shouldn't have mocked everyone for freaking out. They let us go early to get hom safe before the storm, and gave us a PAID snow day today! Even if it was more or less a "shovel-day" from work.
Lake Shore Drive is completely terrifying, along with plenty of other people being stranded for 20 hours stuck behind trucks or buses closer to where I live. I'm so happy I didn't have to be out there and I'm glad a lot of people took it seriously. It's so sad to read about the deaths that were caused by the storm, but there is also a sense of community reading about people who lived nearby LSD and walked food and drinks out to the people who were stranded.
There was a six foot tall drift right up to our front door! It took us 8 hours to shovel the driveway.. see the first picture during the scary storm, and the second; the after-math.
Happy shovel day to you! Hope everyone is safe and warm.
